The "4 C''s" stand for clarity, color, cut and carat weight. "Clarity" highschoolclassring is the absence (or highschoolclassring presence) of flaws (or inclusions) in the highschoolclassring diamond. The fewer the flaws of a diamond, the higher the cost. "Color" is the absence (or presence) of a yellow body color in the stone. The closer the diamond is to colorless, the higher the cost. "Cut" highschoolclassring does not refer to the shape of the diamond (as many people think) as much as it does to the proportions of the diamond. In other words, how WELL was it cut? A well "made" stone can add as much as 15% to the cost of the stone (and also adds a NOTICEABLE difference in the amount of "fire" that a stone produces). "Carat weight" simply refers to the weight of the stone. 100 points equals 1 carat. Therefore, 75 points equals 3/4 carat, 50 points equals 1/2 carat, 33 points equals 1/3 carat, and 25 highschoolclassring points equals how much??? That''s right, 1/4 carat. Unless money is no object, you''ll have to sacrifice either a little color, or a little clarity. We always recommend that you sacrifice a little clarity and keep the color as high as you can afford. Why? A stone can have many small flaws in it, and even the most highly trained eye cannot see them. However, if a stone is low on the color scale, even the most untrained eye will easily pick it up (yellow color in a stone, for the most part, is something you want to stay away from). First, choose a jeweler who does his or her own repairs on the premises. They can be the most honest jewelers in the world, but once they send your jewelry out for repairs, anything can happen! ©2003 www.college-class-rings.com. All rights reserved. |
